It was great to see all the creative costumes tonight — lots of witches of course, but also Katniss Everdeen, a pineapple, pikachu, a cat, a surgeon and many more. As for me, I went as a tree.
Tonight was a bridging night which meant that all the units (Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers) met together although we weren’t all doing the same things at the same time. The Brownies did a fun foam craft, the Pathfinders organized a scavenger hunt, and our Guides ran our haunted house.
We didn’t have too much time to plan for the haunted house before this week, so it was a tad disorganized, but very scary I’m told. We took the small room the Sparks usually use and turned off the lights. I brought three flashlights and there is a hole in the door so it wasn’t completely dark, but enough to be creepy. We designated two girls to be tour guides and had the others pick a spot in the room from which to make creepy noises, reach out to passers-by and just generally be scary. We also had a table with brains (spaghetti) and a cauldron filled with blood (grape juice).
No holiday party can finish with anything other than food so we of course had snacks as well. The kitty litter (chocolate covered grapes in a container of sugar) is still my favourite.
